Essentials for the Tools tab

The ability to get to the handful of common tools used daily can make you much more efficient. The next tip shows how to add additional "must have" programming tools to the Tools tab in RoboHELP. This time saving tip allows you to access reference material quickly and launch external programs without leaving the program. For example, I use the HTML Help Workshop Help file 5-6 times a day to look up HTML tag references. However, I don't want to launch the Help Workshop program each time...all I need is access to the Help files.  Try this:

1. Download and install the HTML Help Workshop from Microsoft. You can obtain the program from the downloads page at: http://www.magrino.com/download.htm.

2. Launch a RoboHELP HTML Edition project.

3. Click the Tools tab .

4. Right click a blank area and choose New Tool.
   
    

5. Complete the dialog box as follows:
   
   Note the location of the Help file.  This is a master help file.

6. With the new icon on the page, to access just the HTML-Help Help file, simply right-click the icon and choose Help on HTML Help Workshop.
   

7. While your at it, you might want to add several other tools to the list.  I add my favorite graphics program, screen shot utility, and various tools I use daily.
